Super Bowl Monday

Yes…I know most of you reading this are like, is she crazy…the Super Bowl is always on a Sunday!  Well yes that is true for you Americans, however this year I was in Germany for the Super Bowl!  That means with the 6 hour time difference…my Super Bowl Festivities were on Monday!  Now that we got that cleared up…lets talk about the Super Bowl Experience in Germany!  As many of you may know, German football is Soccer…therefore not too many of them are interested in American Football or the Super Bowl.  Half of my friends here had never even watched it!  Luckily, our friend Adrian is on an American Football team and his team organized a Super Bowl Party at Euro Palace…a club near Wiesbaden.  Anyway, we got on the train and headed there at 9.  We finally got there after taking a train and 2 busses.

We were excited about the “American Style Buffet”…unfortunately it wasn’t that great.  It wasn’t exactly what I would call American.  The first time we went thru the line…there was like this steak type looking thing but it wasn’t steak it was like pork or something idk but it was white meat.  It tasted disgusting and it was cold!  They were all out of burgers but had a huge stack of buns.  They had this cold potato salad stuff but not American potato salad.  It was like sliced boiled potatoes in some thin white sauce with a few spices or something.  Then they had chicken nuggets, now I guess that was American.  But the one thing I wanted was hot wings!  You can’t have a Super Bowl Party without hot wings!  There was one left in the pan when I got there.  However, after trying it…I realized it wasn’t a hot wing! =(  It just looked like one and it was just some type of BBQ sauce or something barely glazed on the outside!  I was very disappointed.  We went back later for the burgers and luckily they had some, but then they were out of buns…and when they finally got buns, they were freakin’ out of cheese!  It was ridiculous.  I don’t know if they weren’t expecting that many people or what, but it was not good service or food.

Anyway, on to the more important part, we found some seats and got ready for the game.  Nasha and I talked our friend Jonathan into buying us shots to kick off the game with.  Then we sat down and began to watch the game…only to realize that of course…its in German!  We couldn’t understand like a single word!  And the worst part…no American commercials!  All stupid German commercials!  The only good one was the David Beckham one!  Anway…we were able to watch the game, and even though it was in German, we still could see what was going on!  Nasha and I cheered and screamed and clapped with every play that helped the Giants!  I think everyone in the bar thought we were crazy, but nope just crazy Americans who love the Super Bowl!  lol  There was this guy sitting next to us that we started talking to, he was in the Airforce and he insisted on buying Nasha and I drinks.  Then when the game was almost over and Nasha was in the bathroom…he asked me out!  I was like shocked…really?!  I mean this guy was like 40!  I wanted to scream OMG NO!  But I didn’t…I just made up an excuse that I am too busy with school.  From then on, it was awkward sitting there and I was dying for Nasha to get back.  She finally got back and our hearts were pounding as the end of the game was nearing!  We jumped and screamed when the Giants made that last touchdown!  It was amazing!  Nasha had been like freaking out and I was all calm down its ok they can do this, just believe.  And guess what?! I was right!  They won! Yeah Baby!

Anyway, by the time the game was over it was about 4 am or so…so we had a little over an hour to wait before we could go catch the first bus.  We sat around half dead trying to stay awake.  We had been all excited before, but once the game was over we were ready to crash.  The dj finally started playing some decent music, so we went and danced for a little while and finally it was time to head to the bus stop.  We were walking to the bus stop and Nasha and I were a little behind the rest of the group and this old guy in a car offered us a ride to Wiesbaden…we were all no thanks and caught back up to the rest of the group!  Finally we made it back to the train station, but then we had to wait half an hour for the next train back to Oestrich-Winkel.  We got to my house at about 7:15 am!  All in all it was a fun night, but once we got home I was ready to pass out.  I helped Nasha get off to school; unfortunately she had a presentation that morning so she got ready at my house.  She was afraid if she went home, she might fall asleep!  She left for school and I jumped right into bed!
